I couldn’t help but find similarities between the movie and
today’s America, and maybe that which is to come. In Transformers: Age of
Extinction, the CIA have a black Ops team and a corrupt leader working for the
Decepticons, or the evil ones who want to kill life. The CIA works for their
leader without question of moral right or wrong. When the CIA arrests Cade
Yeager, his daughter and friend the CIA agent says something to the effect of,
“What if they tell the police or FBI?” It resembles the same battle we are
facing today with the Federal government lead by Obama overstepping its
constitutional bounds and clashing with State and local law enforcement.
Its also interesting to see how world powers on earth join
together in a one world government to fight against an alien race, similar to
the New World Order which would have one world power.
The wonderful part of the story is the father daughter
relationship. Cade Yeager’s wife died soon after their daughter was born, and
their daughter Tessa is the most important part of his life. The way they take
care of each other and look out for themselves is truly remarkable. There were
several lines I could relate to, like we don’t allow dating, or no boys. When
Tessa’s secret boyfriend shows up unexpectedly and saves the day Cade is mad,
and very protective of his daughter. However Shane proves to be loyal and wins
Cade’s trust. Cade charges him with taking care of his daughter when he tells
Shane he won’t always be there to protect Tessa and if he wants her he needs to
take that full responsibility. I think that is a great example of what dads
should expect of their potential daughters husband and pass that torch along.
I liked seeing the examples of good in people (and robots)
where Optimus Prime changes his “heart” and decides to help defend the humans.
And Cade gets to inventor Joyce’s’ heart when he reminds him that they are both
inventors and want to make the world a better place for people, and wins over
the greed that was growing in Joyce.
The movie ends with a option for a 5th movie
which I’m sure they’ll make seeing the success the first 4 have made, however I
can’t imagine it being nearly as good as what we’ve seen so far. Let their
creative minds at it.
Oh, and did I mention the first third of the movie takes place in Texas? Its so green, wide open space, they live in a nice country home with a barn and drive an old pick up truck. I'm just gonna guess, but they got a better invitation to film there than California.
